How To Make Dal Khichdi?

Rinse 1/2 cup rice and 1/2 cup moong dal together until the water runs clear

Soak for 15 to 20 minutes, then drain

Heat 2 tablespoons ghee in a pressure cooker or pot

Add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

Add 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger and 1 chopped green chili

Add 1 chopped onion and sauté until light golden

Add 1 chopped tomato and cook until soft

Add 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder

Add salt to taste

Add the drained rice and dal

Add 3 to 4 cups water

Mix well

Pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles or cook covered until soft and mushy

Open and stir well

Add more hot water if needed

Mix in 1 tablespoon ghee

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves

Serve hot with curd, pickle, or papad
