Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
Slice a baguette or loaf of bread lengthwise or into thick slices
In a bowl, mix softened butter (or butter + olive oil) with minced garlic
Add chopped parsley (optional)
Add salt and black pepper to taste
Spread the garlic butter mixture generously over the bread
Place bread on a baking sheet
Bake until edges are golden and crisp, about 10–15 minutes
Optional: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella or grated parmesan on top during the last 2–3 minutes of baking
Serve hot
