Divide the ground beef into equal portions
Gently shape each portion into a patty
Make each patty slightly wider than the bun
Press a small dimple in the center of each patty
Season both sides of the patties with salt and pepper
Preheat a skillet, grill, or pan over medium-high heat
Cook the patties until browned on the first side
Flip the patties once
Cook until the desired doneness is reached
Add cheese near the end if desired
Toast the buns if desired
Place the cooked patties on the buns
Add toppings and condiments as desired
