Gather colored paper or newspaper, scissors, glue, and tape
Cut the paper into long strips
Fold each strip lengthwise for strength
Make a base by placing several strips in a crisscross pattern
Weave additional strips over and under the base strips
Continue weaving until the basket sides reach the desired height
Fold the top ends inward to form a neat rim
Glue or tape the loose ends in place
Press the basket gently to shape it evenly
Let the basket dry before use
