Open Chrome
Click the three-dot menu
Select Bookmarks
Click Bookmark manager
Click the three-dot menu in Bookmark manager
Select Import bookmarks and settings
Choose the source browser or HTML file
Import the bookmarks
Move private bookmarks to a separate folder
Rename the folder to something discreet
Keep Chrome sync off if you do not want bookmarks shared across devices
Use a separate Chrome profile for private bookmarks
Lock your device or profile with a password if available
Delete bookmarks you do not want saved
Clear browsing data if needed
Export bookmarks only when necessary
