Boil 1 liter full-fat milk in a heavy-bottomed pan

Lower the heat and let the milk simmer

Stir often and scrape the cream from the sides back into the milk

Continue simmering until the milk reduces to about one-third

Add 4 to 6 tablespoons sugar

Add 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder

Add a few saffron strands if desired

Add chopped nuts like almonds and pistachios

Mix well and cook for a few more minutes

Turn off the heat and let it cool

Serve chilled or warm
