Rinse 1 cup of rice under cold water until the water runs mostly clear
Add the rinsed rice to the Instant Pot
Add 1 cup of water for white rice or 1 1/4 cups of water for brown rice
Add a pinch of salt if desired
Close and lock the lid
Set the valve to Sealing
Cook on High Pressure for 4 minutes for white rice or 22 minutes for brown rice
Let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes
Turn the valve to Venting to release any remaining pressure
Open the lid
Fluff the rice with a fork
