How To Make Rose Water?

Gather fresh, fragrant rose petals (preferably pesticide-free)

Rinse petals quickly and pat dry

Place petals in a heat-safe pot or bowl

Add enough distilled water to fully cover petals

Optional: Add 1–2 teaspoons lemon juice per cup of water to help preserve color and aroma

Heat on low to a gentle simmer for 20–40 minutes

Stir occasionally and lightly crush petals against the side of the pot

Turn off heat and let mixture steep for 30–60 minutes

Strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean container

Let strained liquid cool to room temperature

Optional: Re-strain through a coffee filter for extra clarity

Transfer to a sterilized bottle with a tight lid

Store in the refrigerator up to 1–2 weeks (optionally freeze in small portions for longer storage)

Optional (stronger scent): Repeat by adding fresh petals to the strained liquid and warm again for 10–20 minutes, then strain

Optional (quick method): Use petals + distilled water in a blender, then strain and store immediately in the refrigerator
