Rinse fresh, pesticide-free rose petals gently with cool water
Remove the white bases from the petals if present
Place the petals in a saucepan
Add just enough distilled water to barely cover the petals
Cover the saucepan with a lid
Simmer on low heat until the petals lose their color
Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool completely
Strain the liquid through a fine sieve or cheesecloth
Pour the rosewater into a clean sterilized glass bottle
Store in the refrigerator
