2 cups strawberries, hulled and chopped
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon water
Combine strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, and water in a saucepan
Cook over medium heat, stirring often
Simmer until strawberries soften and release juices
Mash lightly for a smoother sauce, if desired
Cook until sauce thickens to desired consistency
Remove from heat and cool
Serve warm or chilled
