Wash your hands and remove rings or jewelry
Make sure the room is warm and quiet
Use a soft blanket or towel on a flat, safe surface
Choose a time when the baby is calm and awake
Use a small amount of baby-safe oil or lotion if needed
Start with gentle strokes on the legs and feet
Use light pressure only
Massage one area at a time
Move slowly and watch the baby’s reactions
Stop if the baby seems upset, stiff, or tired
Avoid the fontanelle, spine, and belly button area
Avoid massaging right after feeding
Keep the session short, about 5 to 10 minutes
Support the baby’s head and neck at all times
Use soft circular motions on the chest and tummy if the baby is comfortable
Gently stretch and massage the arms and hands
Finish with a calm cuddle or wrapping the baby warmly
