Turn off power to the circuit
Set the multimeter to continuity mode
Insert the test leads into the correct ports
Touch the probes together to verify the meter works
Place the probes on the two points you want to test
Check for a beep or a very low resistance reading
If there is no beep or the reading is high, the circuit is open
Remove the probes after testing
