Place your index and middle fingers on the inside of your wrist or the side of your neck
Press lightly until you feel a pulse
Count the beats for 30 seconds
Multiply the count by 2 to get beats per minute
For a more accurate result, count for 60 seconds
Keep still and avoid talking while measuring
Use a watch or timer with seconds
Measure when you are relaxed and resting
Repeat the measurement if needed to confirm the result
