Wear heat-resistant gloves, face shield, safety goggles, long sleeves, and closed-toe shoes
Work in a well-ventilated area or foundry setup
Use a crucible rated for copper melting
Place copper scrap or copper metal into the crucible
Heat the crucible with a furnace, propane torch, or induction heater
Raise the temperature to at least 1,984°F / 1,085°C
Skim off any slag or impurities from the molten copper surface
Use tongs or proper lifting tools to handle the hot crucible
Pour the molten copper into a preheated mold if needed
Allow the copper to cool completely before handling
Keep a fire extinguisher and dry sand nearby
Never add wet metal or water to molten copper
