Clean the lead surface with mild soap and water
Rinse thoroughly and dry completely
Wear gloves and work in a well-ventilated area
Shake or stir the patination oil as directed by the manufacturer
Apply a thin, even coat with a soft cloth, sponge, or brush
Cover the entire surface uniformly
Allow the oil to sit for the recommended time
Wipe off any excess oil with a clean cloth
Repeat application if a deeper patina is desired
Let the lead cure fully before handling or exposing it to moisture
Dispose of used cloths according to the product instructions
