Choose a subject or area to mosaic
Gather mosaic materials such as tiles, glass, stone, or broken ceramics
Select a base surface such as wood, cement board, or pottery
Clean and dry the base surface
Plan the design or pattern
Cut materials into desired shapes if needed
Apply adhesive to a small section of the base
Place pieces onto the adhesive following the design
Leave small gaps between pieces for grout
Continue until the surface is covered
Let the adhesive dry completely
Mix grout according to the instructions
Spread grout over the mosaic surface
Press grout into the gaps between pieces
Wipe off excess grout with a damp sponge
Allow the grout to cure
Polish the surface if needed
Seal the mosaic if the materials or grout require it
