Meet the basic eligibility requirements

Have a legal U.S. presence
Complete the required pre-licensing education
Finish 135 hours of California DRE-approved real estate courses
Take the required courses in Real Estate Principles, Real Estate Practice, and one elective
Submit fingerprints and pass a background check
Apply for the California Salesperson Exam and License
Pay the required application and exam fees
Schedule and pass the California real estate salesperson exam
Receive your exam results and license eligibility notice
Find a sponsoring California-licensed real estate broker
Activate your license under the broker’s supervision
Keep your license active by completing continuing education requirements
Renew your license before expiration
