Gather a flathead screwdriver or paint can opener
Place the tip under the lid’s edge
Pry up gently around the rim
Move a little at a time to loosen the lid evenly
Lift the lid off once it is loose
Wipe excess paint from the rim before resealing
Tap the lid back on with a rubber mallet when closing the can
