Make a copy of the corrupted file before trying any repair
Open Excel and use File > Open
Select the file, click the arrow next to Open, and choose Open and Repair
Choose Repair first
If Repair fails, choose Extract Data
Open the file in Safe Mode
Disable add-ins and try opening the file again
Try opening the file in another version of Excel
Rename the file extension from .xlsx to .zip and check whether the archive opens
Use a different spreadsheet program to open and resave the file
Copy the file to another location or drive and try again
Recover a previous version from File History, OneDrive, or backup
Use AutoRecover files from Excel
Open Excel with macros disabled if the file contains macros
Convert the file to another format if it opens partially
Use third-party file recovery tools if built-in repair fails
