Use the key or remote to unlock the door
Press gently on the door to break the ice seal
Pull the handle while pushing the door inward slightly
Warm the key with your hands before inserting it
Use a de-icer spray on the lock and door edges
Pour lukewarm water on the door seal if needed
Scrape ice away from the door frame and handle
Use a plastic card or scraper to remove ice buildup
Check other doors or the trunk if one door stays frozen
Start the car and run the heater to warm the interior
Avoid forcing the door or using boiling water
Dry the seals and apply silicone spray after opening
