Put the can on a flat, stable surface
Wipe off any paint from the rim and lid
Use a flathead screwdriver or paint can opener
Insert the tool under the lid lip
Gently pry upward a little at a time
Move around the lid and repeat until it loosens
Lift the lid off carefully
If the lid is stuck, tap the opener lightly and try again
Keep the lid and rim clean for resealing later
