Choose paint color and finish
Gather supplies
Remove furniture
Cover floors and remaining furniture
Remove wall plates and outlet covers
Clean the walls
Repair holes and cracks
Sand rough areas
Tape trim, ceilings, and edges
Apply primer
Stir the paint
Cut in around edges and corners
Roll paint onto the walls
Let the first coat dry
Apply a second coat
Remove painter’s tape
Touch up missed spots
Let the paint cure
Reinstall wall plates and outlet covers
Move furniture back in
