Measure the wall area and calculate the amount of siding needed
Remove old siding if necessary and inspect the wall sheathing
Install house wrap or building paper over the wall
Install starter strip along the bottom edge of the wall
Snap chalk lines to keep rows level
Cut the first vinyl siding panel to fit
Hook the bottom of the first panel into the starter strip
Nail the panel through the nailing slots, leaving space for expansion
Leave a small gap at all ends, corners, and openings for movement
Overlap each new panel with the previous panel
Stagger panel seams between rows
Install corner posts before siding the walls
Fit siding around windows, doors, and other openings
Use J-channel around trim and openings
Continue installing panels row by row up the wall
Check alignment regularly to keep rows straight
Install the top row and finish with trim or utility trim
Secure soffit, fascia, and finishing pieces as needed
Inspect the installation for loose panels and proper clearance
