Choose a healthy ginger rhizome with visible buds
Cut the rhizome into pieces with at least one bud each
Let the cut pieces dry for 1 to 2 days
Select a warm, shaded planting location
Prepare loose, rich, well-draining soil
Mix in compost or aged manure
Plant the rhizome pieces 2 to 4 inches deep
Place the buds facing upward
Space the pieces 8 to 12 inches apart
Water lightly after planting
Keep the soil consistently moist, not soggy
Mulch around the plants to retain moisture
Feed with compost or balanced fertilizer during growth
Harvest after the leaves begin to yellow and die back
