How To Play Checkers?

Set up the board on an 8×8 grid with pieces placed on the dark squares only

Place each player’s pieces on their starting rows (12 pieces per side)

Decide who moves first

Move only on dark squares

On your turn, make a single diagonal move to an adjacent dark square if it is empty

Captures are made by jumping diagonally over an adjacent opponent piece to the next empty dark square

If you can capture, make the capture instead of a normal move (if your rules require mandatory captures)

After a capture, continue jumping if additional captures are available (if your rules require multiple jumps)

Kings are made when a piece reaches the farthest row for that player

Kings move diagonally both forward and backward

Kings capture the same way as regular pieces (jumping over an opponent piece to an empty landing square)

Follow the capture and multiple-jump rules for kings as required by your version

Win by capturing all opponent pieces or leaving the opponent with no legal moves
