Blot excess oil with a clean paper towel or cloth
Sprinkle baking soda, cornstarch, or talcum powder on the stain
Let sit 30–60 minutes, then brush off
Apply dishwashing liquid (degrea sing) directly to the stain
Gently rub the fabric together or with a soft brush
Let sit 10–15 minutes
Rinse with warm water
Wash in the hottest water safe for the fabric, using regular detergent
Check stain before drying; air-dry if any stain remains
Repeat the dish soap step and wash again if needed
For fresh stains: use dishwashing liquid first, then wash
For set-in stains: pre-treat with dishwashing liquid, then soak 30–60 minutes in warm water with detergent, then wash
If dish soap isn’t working: apply a small amount of laundry stain remover to the stain
Let sit per product directions, then wash
For dark or delicate fabrics: spot test dish soap or stain remover in an inconspicuous area first
For wool/silk/very delicate items: use a fabric-safe spot cleaner or professional dry cleaning
Avoid heat until the stain is fully gone
Don’t put the garment in the dryer if oil remains
