How To Play Monopoly?

Choose a banker and shuffle the Monopoly board game money.

Give each player a starting amount of money.

Each player selects a token and places it on the “GO” space.

Decide who goes first.

On your turn, roll two dice and move your token forward that many spaces.

Follow the instructions of the space you land on:

Property: buy it if it’s available; if you don’t buy it, other players may later buy it when they land there.

Owned property: pay rent to the owner based on the property’s current status (including houses/hotels).

Chance/Community Chest: draw the top card and follow its instructions.

Taxes/Utilities/Transport: pay or follow the space rules.

Jail/Free Parking/Go to Jail: follow the space instructions.

If you land on “GO,” collect $200.

If you land on “Jail,” follow the jail rules.

Buying houses:

You can buy houses only if you own all properties in the same color group.

You may build houses according to the house-building rules for that group.

Pay the bank for each house purchased.

Buying hotels:

Replace houses with a hotel after completing the required number of houses in that set.

Pay the bank for the hotel.

Trading:

Players may trade properties, money, and/or get-out-of-jail cards with other players at any time during the game, following agreed terms.

Getting out of Jail:

Use a “Get Out of Jail Free” card if you have one.

Pay the fine to leave jail on your turn.

Roll doubles to leave jail if allowed by the jail rules.

If you do not get out within the allowed turns, follow the jail exit rule.

Rolling doubles:

If you roll doubles, you take another turn immediately.

If you roll doubles three times in a row, follow the “Go to Jail” rule.

Mortgaging properties:

You may mortgage owned properties to get money from the bank.

Mortgaged properties do not collect rent until unmortgaged.

Pay the mortgage amount plus any required interest to unmortgage.

Bankruptcy:

If you cannot pay what you owe, you go bankrupt.

Your assets (properties, cards, etc.) are transferred to the creditor as per the rules.

Winning:

The game ends when all other players are bankrupt.

The remaining player is the winner.
