Gather the Scattergories categories list, answer sheets, pencils, and a 20-sided die
Give each player the same category list and answer sheet
Roll the die to choose a random letter
Start a timer for the round
Write one answer for each category that starts with the chosen letter
Use unique answers when possible
Stop writing when the timer ends
Compare answers with the group
Score one point for each answer that is valid and not duplicated by another player
Score zero points for duplicated answers
Tally points for the round
Repeat with new letters and category lists for additional rounds
The player with the highest total score wins
