Do not pop it if you can avoid it
Wash your hands with soap and water
Clean the blister and surrounding skin with soap and water
Disinfect a needle with rubbing alcohol
Let the needle dry completely
Puncture the edge of the blister gently
Drain the fluid slowly
Leave the overlying skin in place
Apply antibiotic ointment if available
Cover with a clean, sterile bandage
Change the bandage daily
Keep the area clean and dry
Avoid pressure and friction on the blister
Seek medical care if there is redness, warmth, pus, severe pain, fever, or signs of infection
