How To Properly Cut An Onion?

Peel off the dry outer skin

Cut off the stem end

Leave the root end intact

Slice the onion in half through the root

Place one half flat-side down

Make vertical cuts toward the root, without cutting through it

Make horizontal cuts if you want smaller pieces

Slice crosswise to create diced onion

Repeat with the other half

Use a sharp knife

Keep fingertips tucked under while cutting
