Prune floricanes after they finish fruiting
Cut spent canes to the ground
Remove weak, damaged, or diseased canes
Thin canes to leave the strongest ones
Keep only 4 to 6 canes per plant or 6 to 8 per foot of row
Tie or train remaining canes to a trellis
In late winter, shorten lateral branches to 12 to 18 inches
Remove any canes growing outside the row
Pinch or tip primocanes when they reach the desired height
Cut back tipped primocanes to encourage side shoots
Remove all dead canes and debris after pruning
Use clean, sharp pruning tools
