Park on a flat, safe surface
Set the parking brake
Put the vehicle in park or gear
Lay the chains flat and untangled
Drape the chains over the drive tires
Center the chains on the tires
Connect the inner fasteners
Connect the outer fasteners
Tighten the chains evenly
Move the vehicle slightly forward or backward
Recheck chain position
Retighten if needed
Install chain tensioners if required
Test drive a short distance
Stop and inspect again
Remove the chains when no longer needed
