Remove the dipstick or fill plug
Use a funnel if adding through the dipstick tube
Add the correct type of transmission fluid in small amounts
Wait a moment for the fluid to settle
Check the fluid level with the dipstick if available
Add more fluid gradually until the level reaches the proper mark
Reinstall the dipstick or fill plug securely
Check for leaks after adding fluid
Dispose of any spilled fluid properly
