Be in generally good health
Have realistic expectations about the results
Have bothersome drooping upper eyelids, under-eye bags, or excess eyelid skin
Have vision problems caused by sagging upper eyelids, if seeking functional surgery
Not have untreated eye conditions such as dry eye, glaucoma, or active infection
Not smoke or be willing to stop before and after surgery
Not have medical conditions that significantly increase surgical risk
Be able to safely undergo anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation
Be at a stable weight
Be free of bleeding disorders or be medically cleared if present
Be evaluated by a qualified plastic surgeon or oculoplastic surgeon
Provide a complete medical and medication history
Be prepared to follow pre- and post-operative instructions
Meet insurance criteria if surgery is for medical necessity
