Store the old gasoline in an approved, tightly sealed gasoline container
Label the container clearly as old or stale gasoline
Keep the container away from heat, sparks, and open flames
Contact your local household hazardous waste facility
Take the gasoline to a hazardous waste collection event or drop-off site
Ask your local auto shop, marina, or recycling center if they accept old gasoline
If the gasoline is only slightly stale, mix it with fresh gasoline only if your vehicle or equipment manufacturer allows it
Use up small amounts in compatible engines only if the fuel is still safe to use
Never mix gasoline with other chemicals, oil, or solvents
Follow local regulations for transporting and disposing of fuel
If the gasoline is contaminated with water or debris, treat it as hazardous waste
Keep it out of reach of children and pets until it is disposed of properly
