Blot the stain immediately with a clean white cloth or paper towel
Do not rub the stain
Cover the stain with salt to absorb excess wine
Let the salt sit for several minutes
Shake or brush off the salt
Rinse the stained area with cold water from the back of the fabric
Apply liquid laundry detergent directly to the stain
Gently work the detergent into the fabric with your fingers
Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes
Rinse again with cold water
For stubborn stains, apply a stain remover or a paste of baking soda and water
Wash the clothing in the hottest water safe for the fabric
Check that the stain is gone before drying
Repeat the treatment if needed before putting the item in the dryer
