Trim the acrylic nails as short as possible
File the top surface to remove the shiny finish
Protect the skin around the nails with petroleum jelly
Soak cotton balls in acetone
Place the acetone-soaked cotton on each nail
Wrap each fingertip tightly with aluminum foil
Wait 20 to 30 minutes
Check one nail and gently push off softened acrylic with a cuticle pusher
Rewrap and soak again if the acrylic is still hard
Buff away any remaining residue
Wash hands thoroughly
Apply cuticle oil and hand moisturizer
Do not force or pry off acrylic nails
Stop if there is pain or nail damage and seek professional help
