Turn on formatting marks: Home tab → ¶ (Show/Hide)

Delete the last paragraph mark or blank line at the end of the document

Remove extra page breaks: Home tab → ¶ → highlight the Page Break → Delete

Remove extra section breaks: Home tab → ¶ → find “Section Break (Next Page/Even Page/Odd Page)” → Delete

Check for “Insert” → “Cover Page” or “Blank Page” items and delete them

If it’s caused by a table/shape: click the object → Delete

Check for hidden content: Home tab → ¶ → remove any hidden paragraphs or whitespace

Adjust “Keep with next” / “Keep lines together”:

Select the affected paragraph → right-click → Paragraph → Line and Page Breaks → uncheck options as needed

Check widow/orphan settings:

Select the affected paragraph → Paragraph → Line and Page Breaks → uncheck “Widow/Orphan control”

Fix page overflow caused by spacing:

Select the paragraph before the blank page → Paragraph → Spacing → set After to 0 pt (or smaller)

Reduce font size or line spacing on the last page content:

Select the content → Home tab → Line and Paragraph Spacing → choose a smaller value

Check margins and paper size:

Layout tab → Margins → choose Normal (or adjust)

Layout tab → Size → ensure the correct paper size

Check print settings (if only appears when printing):

File → Print → verify the preview and printer settings

If using headers/footers:

Double-click header/footer → ensure they aren’t creating extra content on an otherwise empty page → remove content on the blank page

Save and re-open the document after changes

If the blank page is still there:

Copy all content except the last blank page into a new Word document → save and compare
