Blot immediately with a clean white cloth or paper towels; avoid rubbing
Sprinkle baking soda or cornstarch over the stain to absorb moisture; let sit 10–15 minutes
Vacuum the powder thoroughly
Mix 1 cup warm water with 1/4 teaspoon mild dish soap
Dampen a clean cloth with the solution and blot the stain from the outside toward the center
Blot with plain water on a separate cloth to rinse; blot until no soapy residue remains
Mix 1 cup warm water with 1 tablespoon white vinegar
Dampen a cloth with the vinegar solution and blot the stain again
Blot with plain water to rinse; blot dry with a towel
If a brown tint remains, mix 2 cups cool water with 1 tablespoon hydrogen peroxide (3%) and a few drops of dish soap
Test in an inconspicuous area first; then apply to the stain with a cloth and blot gently
Rinse with plain water and blot dry
If the carpet is still damp, place a dry towel on top and weigh it down; let dry completely
Vacuum again once fully dry
