Blot the stain with a clean paper towel or cloth
Rinse the fabric with cold water from the back of the stain
Apply liquid laundry detergent or dish soap directly to the stain
Gently rub the fabric together or use a soft brush
Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes
Rinse again with cold water
Repeat if the stain remains
For stubborn stains, apply a paste of baking soda and water
Wash the item according to the care label
Check the stain before drying
If the stain is still visible, repeat the treatment before drying
For carpets or upholstery, blot with soapy water and rinse with a damp cloth
For white fabrics, use diluted white vinegar or oxygen bleach if safe for the material
