Wash your hands
Hold the earring front or post steady
Gently remove the backing or clasp
Pull the earring straight out
If it is a screw-back, unscrew it first
If it is a latch-back, open the latch first
If it is a hoop, open the clasp or hinge first
If it feels stuck, stop and try again gently
Clean the area after removal
Seek help if it will not come out easily
