Freeze the clothing in a plastic bag for 1 to 2 hours
Scrape off the hardened gum with a dull knife or spoon
Apply ice cubes directly to the gum until it hardens
Peel or chip away the gum gently
Rub liquid laundry detergent into the remaining residue
Wash the clothing in the hottest water safe for the fabric
Use white vinegar on a cloth to loosen stubborn gum
Dab rubbing alcohol on the gum residue
Blot and lift the softened gum with a clean cloth
Apply peanut butter or cooking oil to loosen gum, then wash thoroughly
Use a commercial adhesive remover if needed
Rewash the item after treating the stain
Air dry the clothing and check that the gum is fully removed before using heat
