Use a fine-tooth lice comb on wet, conditioned hair
Section the hair and comb from scalp to ends
Wipe the comb on a tissue or rinse it after each pass
Repeat combing every 2 to 3 days for 2 weeks
Use an over-the-counter lice treatment exactly as directed
Repeat the treatment if the product instructions require it
Check and treat all household members with lice
Wash bedding, hats, scarves, and recently used clothing in hot water
Dry items on high heat
Seal items that cannot be washed in a plastic bag for 2 weeks
Vacuum furniture, car seats, and floors
Avoid sharing combs, brushes, hats, and pillows
Disinfect combs and brushes in hot water
Check the scalp again after treatment to confirm lice are gone
