Turn off power to the HVAC system at the breaker
Pull the Nest display straight off the wall plate
Remove the screws securing the wall plate
Gently pull the wall plate away from the wall
Disconnect the wires if needed, keeping them from slipping back into the wall
Cap or tape the wires individually if they will remain exposed
Patch and paint the wall if desired
Restore power after installation or removal is complete
