Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water
Clean the piercing area with saline solution
Hold the stud gently to keep it steady
Identify the type of nose stud you have
Twist the visible end counterclockwise if it is a screw stud
Pull the stud straight out gently if it is a straight stud
Slide the L-shaped stud out carefully if it is an L-shaped stud
Press the backing or clasp and remove it if it has one
Stop if you feel pain, resistance, or swelling
Apply saline solution after removal
Seek help from a professional piercer if it will not come out
