Return the item to the store for removal
Contact the retailer’s customer service for help
Use a strong magnet on the tag if it is a magnetic retail tag
Freeze the tag, then carefully separate the locking parts if applicable
Use a rubber band or string to create leverage on certain pin-style tags
Cut the tag off only if it is clearly a disposable plastic tag and you own the item
Take the item to a dry cleaner or tailor for safe removal
If ink is involved, do not puncture or force the tag
Check local laws before attempting removal
