Let the glue dry completely
Scrape off excess glue gently with a dull knife or spoon
Place the fabric in the freezer for 1 to 2 hours if possible
Flex the fabric to help crack and loosen the glue
Test acetone on a hidden area first
Dab acetone or nail polish remover on the glue with a cotton ball
Blot the softened glue with a clean cloth
Repeat until the glue lifts
Wash the clothing according to the care label
Use laundry detergent to remove any residue
Air-dry the item and check for remaining glue before using heat
Repeat treatment if needed
For delicate fabrics, use rubbing alcohol or a glue remover made for fabrics
Avoid using acetone on acetate, rayon, silk, or other delicate materials
If the glue remains, take the item to a professional cleaner
