Tilt your head to the affected side and gently pull the earlobe
Lie on your side with the affected ear facing down
Shake your head gently
Create a vacuum with your palm over the ear, then release
Yawn or chew to help open the Eustachian tube
Use a hair dryer on the lowest heat and speed, held at a safe distance
Use over-the-counter drying ear drops if appropriate
Dry the outer ear with a clean towel
Avoid inserting cotton swabs, fingers, or other objects into the ear
Seek medical care if pain, discharge, hearing loss, or symptoms persist
