Wash the chipped area with car soap and water
Dry the area completely
Remove dirt, wax, and grease with rubbing alcohol or wax remover
Lightly sand any rust or rough edges with fine-grit sandpaper
Remove all sanding dust with a clean microfiber cloth
Apply rust converter if rust is present
Use touch-up paint that matches your car’s color code
Apply the paint in thin layers with a fine brush or applicator
Let each coat dry before applying the next
Build up the paint until it is level with the surrounding surface
Apply clear coat if the touch-up system requires it
Let the repair cure fully
Wet sand very lightly if needed to smooth the finish
Polish the area to blend it with the surrounding paint
Wax the area after the paint has fully cured
Visit a body shop if the chip is large, deep, or rusted through
