How to Repair Roof Shingles?

Choose a dry day and use proper fall protection

Gather replacement shingles, roofing nails, roofing cement, pry bar, hammer, utility knife, and sealant

Lift the shingle above the damaged one to expose the nails

Remove the nails from the damaged shingle with a pry bar

Slide out the damaged shingle

Cut a replacement shingle to match if needed

Slide the new shingle into place

Nail the replacement shingle in the correct nailing zone

Cover nail heads with roofing cement if required

Seal any lifted tabs or edges with roofing cement

Replace any adjacent damaged shingles

Check flashing and reseal or replace if damaged

Press shingles flat and ensure proper overlap

Inspect the repaired area for secure placement

Clean up debris and dispose of old shingles properly
